Bushveld Camps

Parque Nacional do Limpopo can be entered from South Africa (Kruger National Park) through either Giriyondo or Pafuri border gate and from Mozambique via Mapai or Massingir gate.

Fuel, ATM and Nearest Shops (basic supplies only) are located in Massingir and at Letaba (KNP). Mobile reception is possible at Albufeira Camp and Massingir gate. Guests are recommended to bring their own firewood and Drinking Water.

All roads within the Park are suitable for 4x4 vehicles however the main route between Massingir and Giriyondo can be driven by a vehicle with good clearance. The Road network in the Centre of the Park which requires river crossings may be affected following heavy rainfalls.

Standard National Park Rules and Regulations apply. Please Obey the Speed Limits (40 km/h), Do Not Litter and be courteous to other Tourists, Wildlife and Park Communities.

Located at the midway point of the Bush to Beach route the Parque Nacional do Limpopo offers a variety of accommodation from Luxury Lodge to chalet and camping facilities, and a variety of activities from cultural experiences and game drives to wilderness walking trails and 4x4 trails.

A privately operated luxury tented accommodation facility about 30 km from Giriyondo Border Gate. Guided wilderness walks are a feature at its intimate 5 x 2 bed en-suite luxury tented camp that overlooks the Machampane River. Nestled in a secluded forest where bird and wildlife abound, you set out on foot on early morning and late afternoon game walks embracing the waterholes in this pristine wilderness area.
Replete from a three course ‘bush cuisine’ dinner with its Mozambican flavors, the boma and its friendly fire beckon you to experience the tranquility of the night sky and the sounds of the African bush.

Main Rest Camps

These camps are all self-catering camps.

Campismo Aguia Pesqueira: This camp is named after the Fish Eagle whose call you will hear throughout your stay. The camp is located about 55 km from Giriyondo border gate and about 25 km from Massingir. The access road is not suitable for low clearance vehicles and trailers. It is situated high on the escarpment and all camping sites and chalets have magnificent views of the dam, which is about 250 m from the camp. This camp has no electricity and no mobile phone coverage.

Activities include fishing and a short 30 – 45 minute dam walk. Mountain Bike trails are currently being conceptually developed for use from mid 2011. The camp consists of 3 "nodes".

 

 

Overlander site: The first node caters for bigger groups who wish to camp together and has stands for ten tents. This node has communal ablution (hot water showers and toilets) and kitchen facilities (counter and running water and a small one plate stove) as well as a number of skottelbraais. The overlander site is positioned a distance away from the chalet and individual camp sites.

 

 

 

 

 

Private Camping: The second node consists of ten individual very privately placed camping sites, each with its own skottelbraai and views over the Massingir dam. This node also has communal kitchen and ablution facilities as above.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Chalets: The third node consists of 4 wooden chalets, with bathroom en suite and kitchenette, as well as a deck overlooking the dam. Each chalet sleeps 2 people and includes linen, towels, crockery and cutlery, pots and pans and a small one plate gas stove as well as mosquito nets At present there are no fridges in the chalets.

 

 

 

 

 

Campismo Albufeira: This camp is situated at the park’s entrance/exit at Massingir very close to the dam wall and is about 68 km from Giriyondo border gate and 30km from Massingir Gate. This camp consists of:

Ten camping sites, each with its own skottelbraai, with communal kitchen and ablution facilities.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Five wooden chalets, with bathroom en suite and kitchenette. Each of these chalets sleeps two people and includes linen, towels, crockery and cutlery, pots and pans and a small one plate gas stove as well as mosquito nets and skottelbraai.

 

 

 

 


 

Six reed and canvas chalets, one of which is a 4 bed chalet, while the rest are all 2 beds and are equipped as per the wooden chalets.

 

 

 

 

 

All the chalets at Campismo Albufeira have electricity. However, at present the chalets are not equipped with fridges.

Bushveld Camps

The park has two bushveld camps which are used on the 4x4 route transecting the park either northwards towards Pafuri and Mapai or southwards towards Aguia Pesqueira, depending on the gate of entry.

Camp locations and 4x4 trail routes are detailed on the Parque Nacional do Limpopo map. There is no electricity or cell phone coverage at the bushveld camps.

Campismo Sandalo: This is a very basic camp about 3 hrs drive from Aguia Pesqueira, with hot water showers and flush toilets.

 

 

 

 

 


Campismo Nhanfule: This camp is also a very basic camp located in the shade of a Mopani forest. The camp is on the 4x4 route and is situated on the park’s boundary in the north close to Mapai. It has showers and flush toilets.
